Welcome to Markland House

184 & 186 Markland Street in Hamilton

Markland House is composed of two historic Gothic Revival houses, built c.1885. They have become new, architect-designed living spaces.

All the apartments have been designed by architect Stephane Chamard. Everything in them is new, and custom-fitted.

184 Markland

All the apartments at 184 Markland Street have been completely renovated, and are now occupied. We’re planning the decks for the first and second floor apartments, a new entrance at the front, and fresh landscaping front and back.

Take a look at some of the features of these new spaces, and see what happens when you combine brilliant new with treasured old.

186 Markland

The renovations to the four apartments in the adjoining building at 186 Markland Street are also completed, and all four have already been leased. The decks for the first and second floor apartments, new front entrance, and fresh landscaping are all on track for completion this summer.

Like its twin, 184 Markland Street, these new spaces and combine the best of the old with the best of the new.

A Tour of Markland House

Designed by architect Stephane Chamard, all the living spaces have been completely renovated—new floor plans, wall surfaces, floors, plumbing, and electrical. Entirely new kitchens and bathrooms, with carefully-chosen fixtures and finishes.

All the apartments at 184 Markland have been completed, and are happily occupied. The apartments at 186 Markland are slightly different, with better historical details that take advantage of the building’s original architecture.

There’s lots to love in this neighbourhood—it’s a convenient location, close to a Shoppers Drug Mart and Mac’s convenience store, bus and cycling routes, Locke Street, and St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The renewed Durand Park is a block east of the Shoppers Drug Mart.

The bars and restaurants of Locke St. and James St. are a short walk away, through tree-lined streets. But there are no bars on Markland or the adjoining streets, so it’s quiet at night.

Onstreet parking can be tight in older neighbourhoods. But for you—you’ll never need to get a parking ticket. There is a parking space included with every apartment.

Fortunately for your visitors, most parking spaces on Markland Street currently have no time limit.

When the landscaping is completed, the parking area will be neat and properly lit.
