Welcome to Markland House
184 & 186 Markland Street in Hamilton
Markland House is composed of two historic Gothic Revival houses, built c.1885. They have become new, architect-designed living spaces.
All the apartments have been designed by architect Stephane Chamard. Everything in them is new, and custom-fitted.
184 Markland
The apartments at 184 Markland Street have been completely renovated, top to bottom. We’re working on the decks for the first and second floor apartments. The new entrance and landscaping at the front, and fresh landscaping and parking at the rear have all been completed.
Take a look at some of the features of these new spaces, and see what happens when you combine brilliant new with treasured old.

Some Comments
Designed by architect Stephane Chamard, all the living spaces have been completely renovated—new floor plans, wall surfaces, floors, plumbing, and electrical. Entirely new kitchens and bathrooms, with carefully-chosen fixtures and finishes.
All the apartments at 184 Markland have been completed, and are fully occupied. The apartments at 186 Markland are slightly different, with some better historical details that take advantage of the building’s original architecture.
There’s lots to love in this neighbourhood—it’s a convenient location, close to a Shoppers Drug Mart and Mac’s convenience store, bus and cycling routes, Locke Street, and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The renewed Durand Park is a block east of the Shoppers Drug Mart.
The bars and restaurants of Locke St. and James St. are a short walk away, through tree-lined streets. But there are no bars on Markland or the adjoining streets, so it’s quiet at night.
Onstreet parking can be tight in older neighbourhoods. But for you—you’ll never need to get a parking ticket. There is a parking space included with every apartment. The rear landscaping is now completed, and the parking area is neat and properly lit. And at the back, you’ll find your own ‘bike shed’, suitable for storing your bicycle, winter tires, skis etc..
Fortunately for your visitors, most parking spaces on Markland Street currently have no time limit.
